THE AGE WELL STORY

Founded in 1950, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) is the nation’s longest-serving national organization focused on aging. NCOA is an expert in providing digital tools to help older adults maximize their budgets. Our BenefitsCheckUp® tool has helped more than 7.8 million people find $30.5 billion in benefits, and My Medicare Matters® educates older adults on how to make the most of their Medicare coverage. Based on decades of experience, Age Well Planner was created to provide a trusted resource for adults to plan their retirement journey and ensure they can meet their retirement goals.

Today, the average 65-year-old can expect to live another 20 to 30 years. Research conducted by the NCOA revealed 80% of households with older adults— 32 million—are financially struggling today or are at risk of financially struggling as they age. The National Council on Aging created Age Well Planner to provide a trusted resource for adults to plan their retirement journey and ensure they can meet their retirement goals.

NCOA is a trusted national leader working to ensure that every person can age well. Since 1950, our mission has not changed: Improve the lives of millions of older adults, especially those who are struggling. By offering online tools and collaborating with a nationwide network of partners, NCOA is working to improve the lives of 40 million older adults by 2030.

Standards of Excellence

NCOA convened an expert Consumer Advisory Panel to develop Standards of Excellence for consumer education and health insurance brokerage services for people with Medicare. Our Medicare agency partners meet these standards:

  1. Agent Compensation and Anti-Steering Standards

  2. Agent Training and Quality Assurance Standards

  3. Carrier Representation Standards

  4. Consumer Advocacy Standards

  5. Consumer Education and Decision-Support Standards

  6. Customer Service and Support Standards

  7. Regulatory Compliance Standards
